Continuo lives in the menu bar. There is no dock icon; close every window and the app keeps running.
Status icon
The icon reflects connection state. Disconnected means no active session. Connected means paired Macs are reachable on the network. Active means you are controlling a remote Mac; the active peer’s name may appear in the label.
A small padlock in the bottom-right corner of the icon means the pointer is
locked to the Mac it is on: press Globe/fn + L again, or Unlock in
the panel, to let it cross. On a Mac you are controlling from another, the
padlock shows there too, and the panel says Pointer held here by the Mac
with the keyboard, with Unlock it from that Mac under it.

Paired and Available
The panel lists two groups. Paired shows Macs you have trusted. Each avatar always carries a status dot; live and in-progress states pulse unless Reduce Motion is on. A connected row shows its network under the Mac name, followed by optional developer latency. Without optional Location access, Wi-Fi rows use the honest generic label Wi-Fi instead of a network name.
Each row’s icon actions follow its state:
- Jump here moves control to that Mac. It appears only while there is a live session; tapping the row itself does the same.
- Wake Now sends a wake signal, when Wake-on-LAN is on and the Mac may be asleep.
- Refresh drops the live session and reconnects at once.
- Connect appears when the Mac is Online — not connected. It opens a session; it does not move control.
- Unpair forgets the Mac.
There is no separate Disconnect.
Available shows Macs discovered on the network that are not yet paired. Choose Pair to start the three-word flow.
Quick actions
Arrange displays… opens Settings → Macs. Settings is ⌘,. Quit Continuo is ⌘Q.
The Pause input sharing button in the panel’s header stops sharing until you resume it; the header reads Paused meanwhile.
The round lock button just left of Pause locks the pointer to the Mac it
is on. An open grey padlock means the pointer is free; a closed amber padlock
means it is locked, and a click unlocks it. Hold the pointer over the button to
see its shortcut, Globe/fn + L. On a Mac being controlled while another
Mac holds the lock, the button shows a closed padlock, dimmed, and cannot be
clicked; its tooltip names the Mac to unlock from. The button is hidden until
a Mac is paired.
When Log in from another Mac is set up under Settings → Lock & Login, the panel also offers Restart for Remote Login…. See Lock screen and login window.
When Mesh Sleep Sync is enabled and at least one paired peer is online, a Mesh Sleep Sync block appears with participant counts and Keep Mesh Awake / Let this Mac sleep now actions, matching Settings → Wake & Sleep.
Move control without crossing the desk
Tap a connected Mac’s row, or its Jump here arrow, to move control there without dragging across the full desk layout. QuickJump adds a hotkey and switcher for the same jump; see Keyboard shortcuts.
Permissions banner
If Some permissions are off appears at the top, tap Open System Settings to jump to the relevant pane.
Hide the icon
Settings → General → Show menu bar icon can hide the status item. Reset there if you need to bring it back.
