Continuo is not screen sharing. Each Mac keeps its own display. What crosses the network is your keyboard, pointer, and (when enabled) clipboard and files.
One Mac holds control at a time
Exactly one Mac receives injected input at any moment: the one your cursor is on. The Mac you are physically typing on always wins if both try to claim control at once.
If the link drops or something goes wrong, Continuo releases control immediately rather than leaving a remote Mac stuck mid-keystroke.
Crossing an edge
With your screens arranged to match the desk, move the pointer past the shared edge. The cursor appears on the other Mac and keyboard input follows.

Under Settings → Control & Edges you can tune how edges feel. Edge sensitivity is Light, Medium, or Firm: Firm means the pointer must dwell at the edge longer before crossing. Push-through friction means a deliberate push crosses but an accidental brush does not. Edge peek makes the far Mac’s edge glow as your pointer approaches.

Return to this Mac
Push back across the shared edge you crossed, press the Return hotkey
(default Globe/fn + \, configurable under Settings → Control &
Edges), or Disconnect the peer from the menu bar panel.
The return hotkey works from any Mac in the mesh, not only the one that originally sent the cursor.
Pointer feel on the remote Mac
Under Settings → Control & Edges → Pointer, set Pointer device to Auto,
Trackpad, or Mouse. Auto follows whichever device you are using. Trackpad applies
the steeper acceleration curve remote users expect from a built-in trackpad.
Trackpad sensitivity scales remote cursor speed: 1.0 is native feel;
lower values slow the remote cursor.

Password fields
While macOS Secure Event Input is active, typically in a password field, Continuo pauses key forwarding. Type passwords locally; they will not leak to a remote Mac. This is enforced under Settings → Privacy & Security and cannot be turned off.
When keys stop forwarding
Check Accessibility and Input Monitoring on both Macs. Input Monitoring may need a relaunch after granting. See Permissions.
