On first launch Continuo explains three core permissions and one optional permission. The core grants support input sharing and peer discovery. Optional Location access only lets Continuo read the name of the current Wi-Fi network.
Input Monitoring
Lets Continuo read this Mac’s keyboard and mouse to share them. Continuo needs to capture what you type and where you move the cursor on the Mac you are physically sitting at. Input Monitoring is separate from Accessibility in macOS, and both are required.
After granting Input Monitoring, the status may read Granted, relaunch to activate until the event tap is live. Tap Quit & Reopen on that row, or use Quit & Reopen from the menu bar panel if control still does not cross.
If Input Monitoring is off, Continuo cannot observe local keyboard and pointing-device events to send to a paired Mac.
Accessibility
Lets Continuo move the pointer and type on this Mac. This is how injected keyboard and mouse events reach the remote Mac as native macOS input, not as a streamed video layer.
If Accessibility is off, you can pair but control will not land on that Mac.
Local Network
Lets Continuo find and connect to your other Macs nearby. Discovery runs over Bonjour on your LAN.
You can open the Local Network pane in System Settings directly from Continuo.
Continuo can finish onboarding without Local Network granted, but your other Macs will not appear until it is on. Peer connections cannot start without it.
Optional Location: Wi-Fi network names
macOS requires Location permission before an app can read the current Wi-Fi network name. Continuo uses that name only to label Macs in the menu bar and to warn when paired Macs are on different Wi-Fi networks. It does not request your coordinates or track where you are.
This permission is optional and is requested only after you press Grant. Continuo still shares input when you skip it and shows the generic label Wi-Fi instead of a network name.
Opening System Settings
Each permission row in onboarding, Settings → Privacy & Security, and the menu bar banner links straight to the right pane when macOS exposes it: Accessibility, Input Monitoring, Local Network, and Location.
Tap Grant on Accessibility, Input Monitoring, or optional Location to fire the system prompt. Local Network has no direct prompt: use Open System Settings on that row. If Location was denied, its row opens the Location Services pane so you can change the choice.
If a banner reads Some permissions are off, tap Open System Settings there.
Folder access, only if you use Quick Share
Quick Share can also need the feature-specific macOS Files and Folders permission for the folder you choose to share. Continuo only asks when you pick a folder it cannot read.
When that happens, the alert offers Open System Settings, which goes straight to Privacy & Security → Files and Folders.
Password fields
macOS turns on Secure Event Input in password fields. Continuo pauses forwarding while that is active; keys will not leak into a remote Mac while you type a password locally. Settings → Privacy & Security shows Pause in password fields as locked on. This behaviour is enforced and cannot be turned off.
