Pro licensing is one licence per person · 5 Macs included · not for sharing. Free pairs two Macs; pairing beyond that is a Pro feature. Separately, licence activations cap how many Macs may run Pro on one licence.
Before you start
- Each physical Mac needs its own activation on your licence.
- Your Mac ID (first eight characters of a stable device hash) appears in Settings → Licence. Copy it if support asks for it.
- After an OS reinstall on the same Mac, use Restore on this Mac so you do not burn a seat. Use Activate on this Mac only for a new physical Mac.
Activate on a new Mac
- Open Settings → Licence.
- Paste your licence key from the purchase email.
- Choose Activate on this Mac.
- Continuo contacts
usecontinuo.appto validate and register this Mac.
If all five activations are in use, activation returns a limit error. Free one first (see Deactivate a Mac below), then activate this Mac again.
Restore after reinstall
- Open Settings → Licence on the same physical Mac (same Mac ID as before).
- Paste your licence key.
- Choose Restore on this Mac.
Restore only works when this Mac was activated before. It does not create a new seat.
Deactivate a Mac
To free a seat for another machine:
- Open Settings → Licence on the Mac you want to remove.
- Choose Deactivate.
Validate and offline use
Continuo revalidates periodically and caches a signed entitlement for up to 7 days offline. After that, connect briefly so the app can refresh.
Customer portal
Use Manage licence or Customer portal in the site footer for order lookup and receipts. To extend the optional update feed, see /license-renew.
The portal also lists your activated Macs, but it is not how you move a seat: a Mac freed there simply takes its seat back the next time that Mac checks in. Use Deactivate on the Mac itself, or remove it from Settings → Macs on another Mac, and the seat stays free. Pro purchase goes through Polar in the browser; the app never sends payment data.
